Dr. Tanvir Anjum
Born in 1973 in Lahore, Tanvir Anjum was educated at Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore, and later Department of History, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, from where she received her MSc (1996), M.Phil. (1998), and PhD (2006) degrees. She joined the Department of History (QAU) in 1999, and presently, she is a Tenured Professor in the same department. She served as Chairperson of the department from 2019-2022. She briefly served as Member, National Rahmatul lil Aalameen Authority. She is the recipient of Charles Wallace Fellowship at SOAS, University of London, UK (2001), and postdoctoral fellowship (2007-08) awarded by HEC, at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. Her areas of specialization and interest include Sufism in premodern/medieval South Asia. She has authored five books, the most notable being Chishti Sufis in the Sultanate of Delhi: From Restrained Indifference to Calculated Defiance (Karachi: Oxford University Press, 2011). She has contributed numerous research articles in national and international journals of repute, and participated in national and international conferences in Pakistan and abroad.
